Black Diamond Blackberry is a thornless, floricane fruiting, trailing blackberry adapted to the processed market, but also has application in the local fresh market.  It has medium sized fruit, averaging 5.8 g/berry and is very uniform in shape.  It has excellent classic trailing blackberry flavor, but is not quite as intense or aromatic as Marion.  Soluble solids average 14%.  It has very high yield; harvest begins in late June in Aurora, Oregon and lasts for four weeks.  As Black Diamond is less vigorous than other trailing types, it is recommended that it be planted closer within the row.
